IDENTITY
Understanding the role of identity in the life of all individuals is central to our vision. In everyday life people make numerous judgements about their own identity. From all aspects of our lives we draw support and guidance, creating a vision of how we are perceived by others, and how we perceive ourselves, this forms the basis of our identity. Our family, friends and acquaintances, are the sounding boards for this perception. We constantly give and receive messages about who we are in these engagements. We form our ideals, gain our confidence and maintain our self esteem by measuring our position within these situations, and we continually use the tools available to adjust and reflect on this perception. There are many reasons why people’s sense of identity can become damaged or feel incomplete, this may present itself in a number of ways such as depression, anxiety, self infliction, anger, and apathy. We aim to facilitate growth and recovery by working with individuals to build on their strengths and discover what they like about themselves. We can help them gain confidence and restore hope, out of which all good mental health grows. The more confident we become, the more assured we are about our sense of identity and the less we concern ourselves with this perception. Our vision is to help people create a healthy sense of identity and a fulfilling life path.
